The Cucharas River dances and carves it way through the Cuchara Valley, flowing finally against an outcropping of the Dakota Wall which forms the eastern boundary of Yellow Pine Ranch. Within a stone’s throw of its bank resides the rustic yet refined Yellow Pine Lodge – the perfect setting for a family reunion or group retreat – sharing all of the amenities of the 100+ acre Yellow Pine Ranch. From its three expansive, log railed decks one can rock the time away mesmerized by the relaxing sound of cascading waters, enchanted by the magnificent views of the Sangre de Christo mountain range. Inspiration and peacefulness abound. If you can bring yourself to leave your rocking chair and step inside the Lodge the sensory feast only continues as you enter a rustic paradise of hand hewn logs. The central pine staircase is a local craftsman’s work of art, as is the free form stacked rock fireplace. Every window in every room affords breathtaking vistas of mountain, valley, meadow, fishing pond and river. The large kitchen draws – and accommodates – everyone with its ten foot long copper topped island illuminated by an elk antler chandelier. Two dishwashers, a coffee bar, a large cooktop, oven, microwave, refrigerator, and pantry make it more than serviceable. A separate utility room with washer and dryer complete the space. The adjacent great room boasts a flat screen TV, two hide-a-bed sofas, two dining tables and four recliners. There is one bedroom on this lower level with wide doors, and a large private bathroom to accommodate handicapped guests. Climbing the gorgeous log staircase takes you to the second floor access of a balcony that runs the length of the building, and to the remaining four bedrooms, each with their own private bathroom. The lodge sleeps 18 people in 5 bedrooms with 4 people on sofa-beds in the great room for a total of 22. These sleeping accommodations are as follows:
