For nearly a century, generations of families have cherished a return to The Yellow Pine Guest Ranch, layering memories upon memories here in the heart of the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range of Southern Colorado. Historic barns of hand hewn timbers with rail corrals and fencing grace this 150 year old, 100 acre ranch nestled in the Cuchara Valley at an elevation of 8,650 feet. The crystal clear Cucharas River cascades for two miles through Yellow Pine’s lush meadows and soaring pines, replenishing our fishing pond and happily watering our horses – as well as our souls. Come sit a spell on its bank, watch the kids play at our playground, challenge a friend to a game of horse shoes or volleyball, enjoy a trail ride with our wrangler, fish in our private stocked pond or hike to the peak of the Dakota Wall – all without ever leaving the ranch. Treasured memories await the making! Whether you are planning a getaway for just the two of you, a family reunion, or a group retreat, our magnificent ranch provides the perfect setting, truly a gem of Southern Colorado.

TestimonialsLovely Folks - Amazing Experiences
We’ve been taking family and friends to YPR for four summers so far. Accommodations and customer service are always excellent and the scenery can’t be beat. Jerry, the cowboy/trail guide is wonderful with our kids and Mr. Lee, the owner, is super friendly. I highly recommend YPR to anyone looking for a family-friendly, rustic vacation.
We have been coming with our family for 14 years and have always enjoyed our stay at Yellow Pine Ranch. We just returned yesterday from a week at the YPR and it was excellent once again. Jerry, who is the the wrangler for the ranch, went out of his way to show our kids a great time. He was great at keeping us safe and giving us a great ride. He is the real deal! I highly recommend YPR to anyone looking for great cabins, fishing, and unmatched views. Super family friendly.
Clean cabins — wonderful setting to relax and enjoy our family reunion each year.
The new and improved Yellow Pine Ranch is set in a beautiful location between the Highway of Legends (CO State Hwy 12) and the legendary Cuchara River. The ranch cabins have recently be completely remodeled as has the main barn. Horse back riding and the Thursday bar-b-que with western music by Tom Munch are our families favorites. New trails are being cleared to broaden the riding experience. A great place to headquarter while exploring the magical Cuchara Valley and south central Colorado.
Our family of now 30 have been coming to Cuchara since 1969 and to Yellow Pine for many of those years. We absolutely don’t care to go anywhere else. We love it there.
If you’re looking to recharge your spirit with peace, quiet, and nature’s beauty, Yellow Pine is the place. No phone or tv in the cabins (wi-fi available), no swimming pool or putt-putt – but hiking, trail rides, fishing, and breathtaking scenery… It’s my favorite place of all.
